Tower 1862 help

[Questionmark]

Hello, a friend recently gave me a "tower 1862" and I'm hoping for a little help trying to figure out what I have. I've read the threads regarding them, and the one I have has few markings compared to what I see the others on here with. I have not broken anything down looking for makers marks yet. If someone can give me direction from the photos I'd appreciate it. As well as what that marking may be on the stock by the BSAT mark. Thanks

Welcome from South Florida and the Reenactors Forum, looks like a nice P1853 Enfield made in 1862 from one of the Birmingham England Small Arms Trade makers. One of the gun experts will be along before long with all the details of the markings.

What I can see is an excellent representation of the P53 as used by both the CS & US forces and of the type any collector would be content to have in their collection.

W. Scott & Son(s) is covered in Suppliers to the Confederacy in detail along with other Birmingham gun makers. Started in 1841 as a shotgun maker. They bought a sawmill in Turin Italy that provided many of the stocks for the BSAT.
