1st Lieutenant May, 20, 1861, Captain Oct. 16, 1861, Wounded Sept. 14, 1862 at Crampton's Gap, Wounded in the Wilderness on May 6, 1864.Then again at Cold Harbor on June 1, 1864. Finally commissioned Colonel on March2, 1865. He was in an Augusta,Georgia hospital at the close of the war.
