Lee Jackson Day

If you find yourself in Lexington wander over to the Stonewall Jackson House for a tour. We focus on Jackson's life in Lexington before the war including telling the story of the enslaved who were part of the Jackson household.
Maybe you can fill us in on VMI's intentions for its future - I know they recently finished work on the house next door to serve as a visitor center, and hopefully that investment will persuade them not to tear it down anytime soon because it belonged to to the now-hated and reviled slaveowner.

The intention is to continue to interpret Jackson's time in Lexington rather than his wartime life. That has always been the mission of the Jackson House Museum.
No public funds support the museum. It is financed from donations, tour receipts and shop sales.
VMI takes it's role a custodian of a registered historic landmark seriously. The future of the house seems secure.
