Lee-Jackson Day 2024

If the weather holds true, should be a great event. For those interested, the Friday events are all indoors. The doors for the symposium open at 12:00 Noon.

Saturday begins at Jackson's graveside at 10 am.

Your comments remind of how whenever someone gets engaged or pregnant the expectation is that everyone they tell should respond positively. Their decision should never be challenged. It's their life; why can't you let them do as they wish? Why can't you be happy for them? How dare anyone suggest that what they're doing is wrong! Personal happiness is all that matters!

The event is somewhat innocuously presented as a celebration of Lee and Jackson. It didn't take much to reveal what it's really about: a celebration of the Confederacy and Confederate ideals. Disingenuous presentation always warrants challenge.

Furthermore, veneration of Confederate ideals is inherently political. Those celebrating the Confederacy want their perception of Confederate political ideals implemented in present day.

The world will be a better place when there is nobody left who believes the Confederacy was on the right side of history. Until then, Confederate apologists cannot be allowed to operate unchallenged. Anything left unchallenged is tacitly condoned.
Why is it that these types of Yankees always talk endless trash about the Confederacy and then end up living in Southern States? Its almost as if the Southern Socio-Political landscape attracts them for some reason.

Its ironic your celebrating Lee and yet Lee would not want to be celebrated.
Its Ironic that the Union as an entity and Confederacy haters celebrate Washington (A slave owning Southerner that the US wouldn't exist without) Who also was very humble and wouldn't want to be celebrated and originally never even wanted to be President.

Yankee? Neither myself nor any of my ancestors have lived north of the Mason-Dixon Line since colonial times.

Curious that you apparently think veneration of the Confederacy should be a requirement to live in the Southern states.

It's mainly because of the weather is nicer for these old bones and no passport is required.

Lol, its not "curious" It's just a fact that its counter evolutionary behavior to be against your own people. So the automatic assumption would be that you aren't a Southerner. Hope you find a cure soon. Maybe the feds will give you a medal one day for ideologically crusading for them for such a long time.

This forum might be rather pointless if there wouldn't be any debate.
It would also be pointless if anyone had to express only opinions according to his descent, his upbringing or according to anything else…
Alas it could be said that this special thread isn't really the place for any debate at all….

Wild, last time I checked California is open so no excuse there.
Wow! Who needs an excuse for California?

Like I said, no passport required to move to any State in the United States, so, we pretty much decided, all on our own, Florida!

You know, "Out of the one, many."

Besides, I'm closer to the Lee-Jackson event if I decide to attend.

Love how in my response post to this all you could do is laugh react. Bro was lost for words and had no counter point. 🤣

Here we are back to that socio-political point I made as far as your moving choice. You again moved to the Southern states for these reasons as warm weather was perfectly available other non-Southern states. If you're going to move here to our states respect our people traditions and culture. (generalizing the usage of "you" in the word "you're" here as the group of yankees who always has consistent negative comments and opinions on the basis of the Confederacy). That or condemn equally the union for their genocide of natives and equal practice of slavery for 90 years. You would also want to condemn them for allowing black codes up north and jim crow down south after the end of the civilwar. Or you could just not speak negatively about peoples history especially whilst living in that specific peoples land. Also in your reference to "E pluribus unum" the proper translation is "out of many, one" not "out of one many" and this was made a motto of the United States by slave owning founding fathers who believed in a voluntary union. I hope now that you've attempted to quote these founding fathers you wont try to take down their monuments considering they were slave owning secessionists that fought against their country for independence like those Confederates did.

It's strange the majority of the forum(s) is open to and for debate, of the war, politics, reconstruction, books, ect......event wire is about notififying of ACW events.

Per the concerns of others that this is an event thread, I suggest we start a new thread or take this conversation to a PM between us.

I would love to respond to your assumptions above, but it does seem to be taking the topic off point.

Your choice.

It's just internet moralists who like to impose viewpoints. I saw an event on the threads that I think is wrong for a number of reasons, but I actually had the tolerence not to let my feelings be known and chastise everybody for going.
