Yes, the government. The government that was voted in by Virginians.

Ahem, the government that was voted in by DC area suburbs, Fairfax and Loudon counties. They speak for all of Virginia I guess.

I can't help but notice how many threads the past week or so have gotten side-tracked by expressions of current politics.

Not to worry, the government, federal or state, won't kill Lee-Jackson Day.

People will by their continuing, growing, lack of interest.

It's kinda hard not to keep modern politics out. Sometimes the modern politics resemble, hearken back, or tie to a very political war.

Your eyes are lying to you. You wont get to see this celebration disappear. The annual events celebrating Lee & Jackson will continue.

Lee & Jackson both rest eternally in Lexington. That isn't going to change, regardless of how many people despise them, or that others celebrate them.

It is my opinion that, with the Governor of Virginia getting his wish of removing Lee Jackson Day, as a state holiday, & the coming legislation to start removing some monuments, there will be some unintended consequences. I believe this annual celebration for one, will grow. I predict a massive turnout next January. There will be other unintended consequences as well. I look forward to seeing them play out.....
