Not exactly a descendant of President Andrew Jackson, not a blood relative anyway. His father, Andrew Jackson Jr,. was an adopted son of the President. But he was blood kin to Mrs. Jackson, Rachel Donelson. Andrew Jr. was one of twin brothers that were sons of Rachel's brother (and the presidents brother-in-law) Severn Donelson.

His capture at Mobile came on August 23, 1864 when General Richard L. Page surrendered his Fort Morgan headquarters. There were 600 hundred men stationed there , 200 hundred from Jackson's 1st Tennessee Artillery.
