Edged Wpns Help with 2 Swords

trying to figure out how to PM you on the site. When I tried, I received a message saying that I can only start a conversation with a staff member. My name is Steve McManus. I am originally from Lakeville/Middleboro. My e-mail is [email protected] Look forward to hearing from you or your friend ! Amazing what can turn up through a Google search. Steve
Hi, Steve - welcome to the forums. Just hover your cursor over the username of the person you'd like to PM and a window will open where a line reading Start Conversation will appear; just click on that line and it will take you to the proper communications page.

Great - thank you! As you can tell from the posts, this is very exciting. I am hoping that the owner of the sword may be able to shed some light on what happened to the rest of the items from our mutual ancestor. I have been researching the 18th Mass with two other guys for literally 25 years and, during that entire time, only a few references to Stephen Thomas have ever come up and this is th efirst time that any of his items have surfaced. Really amazing. Steve

New update.

The owner has been very busy, but promises me he will be reaching out soon.

In the meantime, this was just sent to me:

Wow - Just Wow !!! That is the picture of Stephen Thomas that appeared with his obituary in the Middleboro Gazette. I always assumed it was a CDV and had no idea it was a painting ! Tell your friend that seeing this really made my day. Steve

It isn't a painting - it IS a photograph, therefore might well have originally been a CDV. These postwar enlargements of period photographs have been described in the forums ad infinitum so I won't say any more here, other than welcome to the forums!

I'll check with my friend, but I am not sure if this is the "painting" he originally mentioned to me. I believe this was just another item they had. Stay tuned. I'm going to try to have him register an account, so nothing gets lost with me acting as the middle man.
