Dear Experts.
I recently purchased a broken Confederate Pike. Its got about 9-10 inches of wood left plus the head. My question is that there is a , well, sunburst pattern on it. I was wondering if that mark was an indicator of anything about the mfg. or region of the region of origin. Thanks for any help. Hank

Nice piece. What is the length of the blade. The style is a Georgia style pike or Joseph Brown Pike. Brown was the governor of Georgia and sent out a call to all blacksmith mechanic etc to produce these for the state of Georgia. It is like the D Guard many different local blacksmiths made so its hard to pin down a maker without a makers mark. I'm not familiar with the start burst being the sign of a particular maker.

Sorry for the delay. Blade is from point to guard about 12.5 ". Measuring point to the bottom of the ring/collar closer to 13'5". There are also two straps of metal securing the blade to the pole and these are about 17" in length. My limited exposure to pikes made me think it was Georgia;but i was completely clueless about the stamped starburst. Thanks for your help.
