Confederate War Aims

How prepared was the Confedercery for war ? The North while unprepared for a war did have the economic and industrial sources to make up for this. The only aim that was mentioned by the government was to secure their separation form the Union. Question= Was there any other way to have accomplish this without attacking a Federal fort? Did they not take other federal forts without military force? What reason would Lincoln have used if Sumter had not be fired on? The first shot destroyed any and all aims that the Confedercery had.
The so called CSA began their preparation for war much earlier than the Union. I'm not sure what you are trying to get at. The war aim of the so called CSA was to force independence. The aim of the entire endeavor was to make safe slavery.

The whole "we just want to be left alone" argument fails under even the most elementary scrutiny.

The confederates one could argue did not have a war aim because they not anticipate a war with the US. While it seems delusional to us, many secessionist leaders thought the US would not respond to seizure of federal property and the initial weak response to seizures of federal property fed that delusion.

How did I know you was going to do that, Lefty? I am not going to copy and paste when a simple push of a button you would have an answer quicker. In case you haven't noticed, I have been around here for quite a few years too.
In other words no there is no source. You ask for sources all the time and I have given them to you so fair is fair.

It is awful hard to argue that the CSA did not anticipate war. Actually, it's an absurd argument. Southerners in government conspired to ship arms from northern armories to the south prior to secession and hostilities. Southern "militias" attacked and took federal installations throughout the south before their states even seceded, as you mention. Jeff Davis (not General Grant's faithful mount but the faithless politician) called for 100,000 troops before Lincoln was inaugurated. Finally, southern rebels opened war when they fired on Ft Sumpter. They thought (at least some of the dumber ones) that they had all their ducks lined up.

The notion that the confederates were not preparing for, anticipating, and then waging war is out right incorrect.

They wanted war. They started it and thought they could win easily and thus begin their dream of building a slave empire- unimpeded by those "black republicans" and "abolitionist agitators". Thankfully, they were wrong. Sadly, too many have fallen for the post war propaganda of the Lost Cause movement.

This is a good point. Their ultimate war aim was peace. It was Lincoln that needed a war. If there was no war, then the South would just leave and the country was split in two. It is easy to overlook that simple fact.

The intent of the Confederate govt. was not to overthrow the US govt., but to separate from it. The reasons for the invasions of the north during the war have been previously discussed in this forum in detail. Primarily, above all, being the pursuit of peace with a Confederate victory, thereby a separate nation. Certainly that nation being free of influence from persistent Yankee agitators.

Would like a source for this ! I think that this was with all people in that time
No problem my friend and also for my other friend @Rebforever @Stone in the wall @ uaskme it took me a little while but I found an article from noted ACW author Gordon Rhea

" Why non slave holding Southeners fought" Address to the Charleston Library Association 2011 battlefieldtrust.org.
Absolutely Miscegenation was a tremendous fear used to support Secession.
Miscegenation was a major concern of Southern whites for hundreds of years.

No problem Lefty, we all love reading your posts. The only thing I've read by Gordon Rhea is The Carrying of the Flag, and I read his article. As a contributor to CNN so it's not hard to see his agenda. To try to lump why all non slave owners fought into a single cause is just crazy. There were many more reasons why they fought. Such as :
Adventure
Loyalty to state
Money
Threat of Invasion
Family

Or we can believe what actual Secessionists actually said at the time. We can also take I to account that Southern colonies such has Virginia had anti Miscegenation Laws as early as 1660 and no Southern state voluntarily repealed it's Miscegenation Laws not did any Southern states state supreme court repeal their miscegenation laws. Fear of Miscegenation was no the only reason Confedrate soldiers fought but it was a major reason.

False the Confedracy had no intention of peaceful seperation and did try to size territory in the border states and the Southwest. Actions speak louder then words.

Problem solved.

"A Yankee is a particular breed of person who believes that everyone should live as he does, and if not, he will force you to bend to his will."

So Yankees have absolutely no right to ensure that all Americans are not discriminated against?

Gordon Rhea and I were speaking of non-slave owners, and why they fought. So are we now flipping and talking about words of the "actual sessionists"?
