Confederate War Aims

? did the confederate president and the confederate congress have the same war aims.
Not sure, after all they were all just a rats nest of racist traitors- turning on themselves (as they did) would be par for the course.

We can try to pretend they were honorable but it says more about us than them if we do.

The only dust heap was called your lovely " Reconstruction ".
As "Reconstruction" was nothing more than trying to integrate African Americans into our national life as equal citizens, I'm confused as to why you are so adamantly opposed to that endeavor. Do you not think that freed slaves or southern unionists should have had the vote? Are you a fan of the "black codes"? Are you a fan of the red shirts and the KKK? Are you a fan of Jim Crow which was a direct result of reconstruction not being fully realized?

Help me to understand before I have to come to a conclusion about your point of view that I'd rather not have to come to.

And I thought this was a forum about actual history....

So what is next, should we debate how many orcs live in Mordor?

or maybe jump to how best to prove that earth is in fact flat.

But, the USA was moving that way and the south couldn't abide it.

I am aware of a group of people who went to war to defend slavery while the rest of the world was moving away from it. It was your heroes, the slavers.

I'm fully aware of Confederate heroes who fought for independence from holier than thou hypocrites who sought to dominate them for their own benefit.

"Abraham Lincoln is the Christ-figure of the Nationalist Narrative and the Lincoln gospel goes something like this: God led English Puritans to the City Upon the Hill on the Banks of Massachusetts Bay, but these budding Americans ruined paradise by allowing slavery to gain a foothold in North America. After many years of wandering in the Great American Desert and watching slavery flourish among the Southern descendants of Cain, Americans were awakened when John "The Baptist" Brown burst onto the scene, preparing the way for the Lord, who appeared, lying in a log cabin, in the little town of Somewhere, Kentucky."
Stephen M. Klugewicz

Then why hold up and honor ****s unless one is a ****?

Also, one side was fighting to enshrine **** in law. The other wasn't. Your attempt at a false equivalency is noted and rejected.
So the culprits responsible for the Lincoln Memorial were ****s?

"Then came the Black Hawk War; and I was elected a Captain of Volunteers - a success which gave me more pleasure than any I have had since."
Abraham Lincoln, December 20, 1859.

The war aim of independence is tarnished by the fact the states seceded to preserve slavery.

After the battle of 1st bull run Richard Ewell suggested the slaves be freed and allowed into the army. The suggestion was rejected but it showed that some officers could see from the start that the manpower was not equal to the task.
