I did not know this about Mosby. It is indeed tough to wrap your head around, the sense of honor to one's' country' would trump the rights of humans to be humans- leaves one torn. You'd think he'd have made the decision that the United States was his country, since his sense of patriotism was so strong- I guess you have to really look at the perspective of what it was like for someone at the time, from his particular background, etc.- . Still, Virginia was not his country, perhaps it was his culture, his heritage, the UNITED States of America was his country. Hee- I am sure this man heard THAT argument many times, however, in much better context than a frowsy 54 year old female from PA in 2012 can put it. This post does make me interested in hearing more on how Mosby defended this further, thank you!
Funny how one's interest if so caught by motivations of these men. I know it's one of the reasons I do like ( yes, controversial ) Killer Angels better than Gods and Generals, for instance- the father ( in my opinion ) does a better job than the son of charterization, and an equal one with Union and Confederate.
I think I remember seeing Mosby and his famous bride, would make another great colorized photo.

That's me having an excuse for being so off the thread with this. Hee.
