Best ACW book for beginners to study.

My sister-in-law asked me if I have any good books to study the ACW in college. I have been told, by word of mouth, that "Battle Cry of Freedom" is the absolute best for real accounts, events and truth. In this educationally *cough* changing world of America's history in the schools, I need a book or two I can give her and say, "THIS is it."

For one volume - absolutely YES. "Battle Cry of Freedom" is a staple of my bookshelf.

I started with Battles and Leaders -- the first Four Volumes. There is, of course, also the compilation volume, "Hearts Touched by Fire"
