During winter there is nothing to me like a good cup of hot tea. This tea recipe is from New England and dates back about 100 years.

1 orange
12 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick, about 2 inches long, broken into pieces
4 tea bags
4 cups boiling water
1 cup cranberry juice
1/3 to 1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons rum flavoring

Stud oranges with cloves and cut into 6 or 8 sections. Drop sections into teapot, squeezing each section slightly. Add cinnamon, tea and boiling water. Steep for 5 minutes and strain. Stir in cranberry juice, sugar and rum flavoring.

Serves 4 to 6. This is a wonderful tea drink to share with friends on a cold winter day.

Cloves and cinnamon caught my attention, but I would use real rum instead of flavoring.

A brew up is good any time, particularly so in the Winter. It has both physical and psychological benefits. Something my British mates taught me.

I enjoy a mug of strong tea with milk and sugar.

Give Yorkshire tea a try, milk with two sugars, lovely job. You can't beat a brew.

Love the Yorkshire Gold tea! It's one of my favorites, but a bit difficult to find. Though the English Tea Store online typically carries it. It's robust and great with half-and-half or real cream with sugar.

There is a company in England called 'Taylors' they make Yorkshire tea bags, most of my friends like the Yorkshire tea but a few of them also like PG tips, PG were famous for their tea adverts with Chimpanzee actors. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLwTIiPdI3Y

This sounds really comforting on a cold winter's day! And I agree with @nitrofd only real rum! :smoke:

A friend recently gave me a box of Twinings Winter Spice Tea, which is similar to this New England classic. It's got cinnamon, cardamom, clove, with natural apple flavoring with a chamomile base, which is a great before bed calming tea.

Ha! Fun ads! I have a big box of the PG Tipps at my desk at the office! I'm about to brew some now for my 3pm cuppa :smile coffee:
