Who do you think was the scariest looking officer? In my opinion it was George A. Custer.

Custer's Last Stand made headlines in 1876

Forrest. I would not want to be thrashed with the side of his saber, beaten with a tree branch, or killed with a pen knife. All of which he seems to be thinking about in this photograph.

For the Union, William T. "Old Crazy Eyes" Sherman. He just looks like he stopped just long enough for this picture before becoming a malevolent force of nature.

I take it back. Forrest looks like he already settled on one of three.
