I've seen who is the scariest looking officer. But who is the friendliest looking? My vote goes to McPherson. He looks like he heard a good joke.

I would love to watch a well-done 5-hour movie about any major campaign or battle, with a couple of 5-minute breaks of course.
I do agree.
But "well done" is the key phrase.

I remember getting "fired-up" about the early 1990's Ted Turner TV movie "Ironclads".
Great effects for the time, but once more ... I was disappointed by fake Southern accents and a nonsensical soap opera plot.

However, as not to derail a fun thread,
I'll shut up ...
and get back to friendly looking officers. :smile coffee:

I remember watching CSI Miami for the first time. There was a girl on the show who was supposed to be from North Carolina and spoke with a thick accent. I thought, "Ugh! That accent is hard to take, nobody in North Carolina talks that way." I just accepted that she was going to use that accent in the show and tried to ignore it. A year or so later I saw her on an interview show. She really was from North Carolina and her accent was the same as on CSI. So much for my knowledge of regional accents.

You're 100% right, @7th Mississippi.

Not sure.

Ive never properly watched that flick from "start to finish" .
It's way too long for my taste.

Plus the goofy fake beards/fake accents only made me laugh.
I found the fake beard to be one of the best parts of that film.

It's hard for me to totally fault that movie. Tom Beringer and Jeff Daniels are pretty good. I keep waiting for Marin Sheen to start talking like a movie from another war:

"We were going north on the Hagerstown Pike. We were in two columns and headed into Pennsylvania. I didn't know what I'd find. The horror..."

Surprised it's not been said yet..."Uncle John" Sedgwick. Only General pic I've seen where the guy's actually smiling.

RIP
I don't know if it would be fair to go to the Confederate government. But Judah Benjamin gets honorable mention. I don't think he could not smile unless he forced himself.
