CWT Fall Muster 2025?

Hold this thought @MasonDixon The rotation for this year's Muster is supposed to be for an Eastern Theater site.

We have something in common. I helped out a little with the next Muster after I had such a great experience attending my first one.

I think Atlanta and Perryville will be strong contenders for 2026.

This year for the east, another thought might be Wilmington.

- Fort Fisher State Historic Site
- Fort Anderson State Historic Site
- Fort Johnston-Southport Museum
- Bellamy Mansion
- Fort Caswell (if access could be obtained, it sits on the property of a retreat and conference center)

Bentonville is less than 100 miles from Wilmington and could serve as a good side trip.

Good thoughts, @MasonDixon. The host hotel might be in Dallas, Georgia or some other small city in order to avoid the maddening traffic of Atlanta.

Well UVCrelics also did a great job of keeping the last muster very affordable

Not sure how applicable the east/west thing is.

As at this point don't think there's been host commitments to east, west, or coastal.......As haven't seen confirmation the Charleston host offer made at last muster still stands.....as was months ago and circumstances might changed.

I did not mean to offend anyone regarding "theatres" of war. I am just throwing out there what I am willing to organize or work on. I learned from participating in the last muster this is not simple. Georgia is the Eastern Theater... Western Theater is wide open as far as participating. The wife and I had a blast at the last muster and looking forward to seeing all again. I am willing to help with anyone wanting to share the load. I threw out my idea as I am willing to help there. Anyone with a good idea we are willing to help as a QM or whatever is needed. I tossed out the idea of the minor battles that are often overlooked.

So I have some experience organizing an event that wasn't in my backyard. One has to be careful not to bite off more than you can chew. I like the idea of the Atlanta Campaign which encompasses nine major battles. This might be too much for one muster. Jackson's Valley Campaign encompasses six major battles which also might be to much for one muster.

A crazy thought which I don't believe is doable. To travel by paddle wheeler from Pittsburgh Landing to Vicksburg.

The thing about the muster is it is also a trip so with the plenty of smaller battlefields around and some with museums that a lot of us would not follow up on normally, there are great dining and close enough that we can spend time outside the "war room" and have a great time hanging out. Also good planes, trains and automobile for many to get there easily.

Atlanta has some merit. I think there are enough sites outside the north beltway to fill a Muster.

The biggest problem I see is some of the public land, especially Kennesaw Mountain, is absolutely swamped on the weekends by joggers, dog walkers, etc. So the Fri/Sat/Sunday format may not work there.

5k a pop be most expensive muster......sweet talk @UCVRelics into subsidizing part of it

Perhaps he's had some big wins at beau rivage and needs tax write offs.........

Last call for Fredburg /Spotsy & can be in and out for members and see a lot in compressed time. If members have more time to stay Richmond and Northern Virginia fields open up at a beautiful time of year.

That seems the problem.......we have some "staff" offers to assist the QM/Host in the area......but no actual QM/Host offers.......

And not critizing people at all for not stepping up......it's a time/responsibility as well financial commitment to be the boots on the ground wherever....but realistically need one to proceed with one, or vote on multiples......just shows how lucky and blessed we have been in the past with members hosting.

This is true.

I think Charleston was up as 2nd choice on votes.

We could call for another vote. My big obstacle would be CC draining my time prepping to speak.

The pics I sent are a part of a county I am proud to call home for over 30 years. It would be an honor to host a great group of guys and gals … if a team could be put together. I think Jerry was in for Fred.

All the other choices are great. To me you talk about the CW this was one of the wickedest of it. Desperate and raw.

While it's relatively easy to book a riverboat cruise up or down the Mississippi River from St. Louis/Memphis to New Orleans
(with stops at Vicksburg and other Civil War sites along the way) the cost is unreal. One can find longer/less expensive cruises to the
to the Caribbean and Mexico.

But the idea is a good one.
Many of those river cruise companies even offer specific Civil War itineraries for select cruises.

Too bad it's cost prohibitive for many folks that would like to attend a CWT muster.

That would be very cool to do and have lectures. I think it is pricey but worth it.
