A delicious Kentucky dessert is Woodford Pudding. It is named for Woodford County, Kentucky in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. Bluegrass cooks have been making this pudding since 1875 and before. The first recipe appeared in "Housekeeping in Kentucky" published in 1875. This is the family recipe I use to make this pudding.

Woodford Pudding

Cream 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup butter
add 3 whole eggs. Beat well
Add 1 cup blackberry jam
Stir in 1/2 cup flour
Add 3 tablespoons buttermilk in which has been dissolved 1 teaspoon soda
Flavor to taste with cinnamon and nutmeg.
Bake in slow oven, about 350 degrees for 45 minutes and serve warm with hard sauce.

Hard Sauce Recipe:

Cream 1 cup butter with 1 1/2 cups sugar
Add 1 whole egg, 1 cup cream.
Mix well and cook in double boiler until thick.
Flavor with Bourbon whiskey.
