1857: Attended Virginia Military Institute – (1 year and 1 month)​
1859 – 1860: Attended University of Virginia​

Civil War Career:

1861: Enlisted in the Army at Craig's Court House on May 15th
1861: Traveled 52 Miles to Lynchburg, Virginia becoming Captain​
1861 – 1862: Captain Company B, 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment​
1862: Recruiter for 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment in February​
1862 – 1863: Major of 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment​
1862: Wounded in the face at the Battle of Seven Pines, Virginia​
1862: Wounded in the thigh at the Battle of Gaines Mill, Virginia​
1863: Told his men at Pickett's Charge "Now, boys, put your trust in God and Follow me!"​
1863: Acted as Commander of 28th Virginia Infantry after other officers went down​
1863: Killed during Pickett's Charge dying from wounds​
1863: His father filed a settlement claim his father was due $165.00​
