Left Pittsburgh bright & early this morning. Since a significant part of the Muster deals with Jubal Early's 1864 Valley Campaign I decided to make a side trip of my own to visit a site associated with that campaign - the Monocacy National Battlefield near Frederick, MD.

I am now comfortably ensconced in my room at the Hampton and will post photos in due time. In the meantime a teaser. A 6-year old Glenn Worthington watched the battle in front of his home (pictured below) thru the gaps in wood plank covering the basement where he and his family sheltered. Nearly 70 years later he published the first complete history of the battle.

Here's part of the group at lunch at the Appalachian Brewing Co. getting fueled up for an afternoon of adventure. @Yankee Brooke @infomanpa and @rpkennedy (at the far end of the table) joined us for today's activities. They can't come to Winchester but it was great to see old friends and meet new ones!
