This is an 300/700 marked ammo crate meant to be known it had 300 Williams durring the war this box would have been made in 1863 by Watertown Arsenal part of my collection now

Unless the wood is rotting, I wouldn't imagine that any conservation would be necessary. I would want to keep it out of direct sunlight or florescent light to keep the paint from fading. Of course you have a better idea of its condition than I do. It really looks good from the photos. Just my two cents from a former museum curator (who hasn't seen the object in person).

It's in great shape as is but the paint lettering is covered in dirt so I was wanting to have it professionally conserved and cleaned
