It's time to begin your planning for the annual gathering at the Forrest Boyhood Home in Marshall County, Tennessee!
William Forrest, father of Nathan (Lt. Gen. CSA) and twin sister Frances, John (Mexican War vet), William Hezekiah (Capt. MS Cav.), Mary, Aaron (Capt. 6th MS), Jesse (Lt. Col. 20th TN), Isaac, Bedford, Milly and Jeffrey E. (Lt. Col.), bought part of his grandfather's farm in 1830 in what was then Bedford County, Tennessee. He moved west to Tippah, now Benton, County, Mississippi in 1834.
This property now referred to as the Forrest Boyhood Home, in honor of the General has belonged to the Sons of Confederate Veterans for several years and is still being lovingly (yes, that's actually true) restored by our membership.
January 20, a Saturday is the day of the festival. Horses, big people with guns, pretty ladies, music of the old South, cannons, art, blacksmiths, a few hotdogs and soda pop (an old suthern drink) will be there in abundance to raise a few bucks for continuing work as this place continues it journey to museum quality. It's gettin' there. We can use your help and would love to show you around. A general, a colonel, and two captains of the Confederate army once played in this yard, rocky as it is.
Save up some gas money and come join us! We'll have plenty of signs up along TN highway 99 off I-65 interchange 46 going east toward Henry Horton State Park. Try to speak slowly. Thanks.
