I went through the following old thread concerning Civil War Jewish soldiers by @Pat Young and then did a forum search for the Salomon Brothers.

Pat, why haven't the Shapell folks posted threads on forums such as this, seeking to contact anyone who is a descendent of a Jewish soldier who served in the Civil War? I can't answer that. I recommended that they post a beta version to invite contributions.
