New to the forums here. Looks interesting.
I'm actually looking for a Spencer Carbine expert (if there are any). I bought a 1865 Spencer Burnside for only $$1,000. It is in pretty good shape and has only one problem I find after disassembly. The barrel has been changed and it is only hand tight. If you tighten it up, the sights are not at top, but are past the top by just a degree. The barrel is definatly not the original as the ser # doesn't match the receiver frame ser #'s.
It is a very low serial # carbine. I have a Springfield Trap door and a Snider both in carbine also. I make my own ammo as I'll have to do with the Spencer. But, I need to get that barrel tight before I can shoot it.
Not sure how to make the barrel tighten up with the sights directly on top. Any experts?
