Self-Publishing a book

Hey all, not sure where I should put this post...please feel free to move this as needed

I've mentioned before that I'm working on my first book. Looking for some direction as far as the self-publishing route...anyone have any experience with this or going the ebook route on Amazon? The book is no where near done but I'm trying to get a plan put together for the future.

The technique that has served me best is to use words like they cost $10 each.

The most important principle in writing history is that mere facts are not enough. The race in writing is not to the swift, but to the original. Historical writing becomes an art form when you impose an organizing notion on those facts – an idea that had not been attached to them before. You do that by constructing a narrative.

We learn best through storytelling. As neurologist Oliver Sacks put it, "I think [the need for a narrative] is absolutely primal. Children understand stories long before they do trigonometry." Thou shall not is soon forgotten, but once upon a time lives forever.
