How many events present reenactors with "tokens" of some sort? Do reenactors expect a token? If so, what would you prefer? I would love for you to post photos of what you have received at various events. Any feedback is appreciated, as I am managing a reenactment this summer.

Also, are there any other event coordinators who could comment on their sources for ordering tokens, and/or what you have presented?

Here are 2 examples. These wooden ones are roughly 1.2 to 1.5 inch diameter.

Thank you!

When our Missouri company went east during the 125th we received some sort of token at one of the reenactments. I've forgotten where it was from or what it was. The practice was new to us, so we figured it was some sort of Eastern affectation.

Here's a quick grab from my drawer, if this helps:

150th Gettysburg token says "Jack's Powder Keg" on the back, Wilson's Creek says "150th Anniversary Reenactment | Blue-Gray Alliance" on the back, and Atlanta says "Civil War History at its Best | Atlanta Campaign Inc." on the back.

Here in Denmark, the "Battle of Als" event actually issue a medal...

I got one, but I think it is a wast of time and money.
But my main issue is that some wear it on the uniform. (anachronistic)
And it take a good deal of time to give everyone their medal.

Using a token as both a "remember the event" and as a way of proving you are a participant do make sense.
(Access to facilities? getting free food? or similar)

The anniversary events usually give a medallion to participants. I only have 3 wood one in my collection the rest are metal. Cedar Creek is the only event that I know of that gives a medallion every year. They are difficult to come by, this took me 23 years to put together. I have 2 more to add.

Mainly, I've gotten medals for the 150th events.
At local events, we generally get no token, but, on occassion, one has been issued. At some local events, ribbons are distributed with the name and year of the event. Sometimes we get a coffee mug with the name and year of the event. However, more often than not, we don't get any tokens, ribbons or mugs.
Hope this helps!
