Odd looking pewter infantry button

Hello @ACobra289 and welcome to CivilWarTalk - the best place on the internet for Civil War discussion. Until @ucvrelics arrives, here are some close up pictures of an original dug one I got from him a while back

Hi all.

I am far from an expert. In fact, I'm a beginner when it comes to CW relics. But the shank on the button looks odd. It's like a cross between the cast brass buttons with the really thick shank and the pewter buttons with the wire shanks. I was just curious what the experts thought.

Looks right from what I can see. Here's a brass solid cast I from my collection. The solid cast brass I buttons had some different looking shanks.

Welcome From THE Heart Of Dixie. It does have an unusual eye but there were many different variations of this button, looks right as rain to me but the price is way out of line IMHO.

Thanks everyone for the responses. After I posted I thought about it and realized there could be other variations than the two that I was familiar with. (1. Cast brass with the thick drilled shank and 2. Cast pewter/white with the wire shank that has the seam) And with local manufacturing, there could be all sorts of oddballs out there.

Thanks for the help.
