Northerners Turned Southern Slaveowners?

Is it known what percentage of slaveowners in 1860 were Southern born vs Northern or foreign born? Were there any areas in the South with an above average concentration of non-Southerner (or descendents of Northerners) slaveowners?

I know there were some Northerners who went South to benefit from slavery in the antebellum area. One example is Roswell King, founder of Roswell, GA who was from CT.

I'm very doubtful such men made up more than a small percentage of the population, but I thought I'd ask to be sure.

(This question comes from a highly doubtful claim I saw on Facebook.)
