Sure was an absolutely fantastic weekend....!! Our Friday symposium was well received as all of the speakers brought something to the table. Our CWT speakers (
@lelliott19 &
@Norman Dasinger Jr) were both GREAT..! Kevin Pawlak & Eric Buckland are full of information as well.
On Saturday the weather was pretty good (for Jan), & we had one of the largest turnouts ever...!! I would estimate over 500 people gathered at Jackson's graveside. The parade....awesome.
After the parade, we had our Key Note presentation by Historian Bill Potter. Again, a well informed speaker full of information. Our conference room had the biggest crowd ever, as it was standing room only for the presentations.
We had a fine southern meal, & enjoyed fellowship with old friends, new friends, & many compatriots. I can't think of a better weekend in a long time. It was nice to meet fellow CWT members,
@Diane123 &
@gjpratt ..! I hope y'all enjoyed the event as much as we enjoy putting it on...!!
Lastly, we made a huge announcement for our cause, for our heritage, & for our ancestors:
In honor of all the Widows and Orphans of Confederate soldiers who gathered pennies and dimes to build memorials to their loved ones, we announced our ambitious plan to build a place to rescue or recreate those monuments outside of the deteriorating ruins of the cities. Lee-Jackson Memorial Park will be a place where we can pick up where they left off, honor our heroes and veteran ancestors, and thus our widowed and orphaned grandparents. Help us here:
