Hey guys! I have been racking my brain lately about how to make this forum more active! I have tried to post new topics and such but to no avail. Should we just accept that there are very few on here interested in the paranormal? What are some suggestions to get this forum going?
Thanks,
Matt

Personally, mph, I have no interest. But there are a few who do have interest. Content yourself with that.

OK here"s one........ I knew this family for 30 years they bought and sold horses, the old man passed and 4 months after I went down to help his wife with the horses while her boys were off buying. while cleaning stalls and moving horses in and out we talked on how upset she still was with out him and just wished he was there and she went to the house.........I just brought a colt in the stall I just put shaving in, went back to get the hose to water, came back to the stall and I swear to any thing you want, there was the guys named spelled out in like 12 inch letters in the shavings, clear as a bell.

To be fair, though,I will add this.Last December, while I was in Virginia for the 150th Fredericksburg,I stayed with my niece and nephew in Dalgren, which is close to both Washington and Lees' birthplaces. My nephew took me to both.Didnt see any spookies, but I still vividly remember the creepiest reaction I felt at Stratford Hall.Keep in mind,it was early December, not really the height of tourist season, and we were literally the only two people there.
I still find it difficult to describe the feelings I was having. The lonliness, the winter geese honking, gave me the most melancholy feelings I can recall ever having. It was like I was somehow in the saddest place on Earth.I have been to absolutely tons of Civil War sites, but Stratford Hall just made the hair stand up,the skin crawl, and left me,still now, when i think about,a sense of deep foreboding.
Its quite possible that this forum could liven up a bit,if people could relate such emotional experiences,as mine, and not strictly paranormal misty forms and red eyes glowing in the dark.
Last September on the way up to the 150th Chickamauga,we took a side trip to Andersonville, and I can tell you, that i was not prepared for the feelings and emotions of that site AT ALL! I can honestly say that of all the CW sites i have visited,Andersonville is one I truly, truly, would not like to be in at night!

I really like kealbo54 story it was a Good one, and if more people would share there storys that would be awesome!!!! but on the other hand there's a bunch of us that have never even been to a battle field like ME, and because of the state I live in there not really any thing related to the civil war here,, so we dont have any of those experience. But we might have other experience non related to the civil war, So Matt I dont know what the answer is going to be, I would still like to see this thing go.

I Bass fish,all night,standing on my front deck. Ain't nuthing' out there 'cept me,the boat,the fish,the birds,and 100's of Coyotes.

I belong to a lot of paranormal forums and you have a pretty nice one compared to them. I wouldn't change anything... maybe make the "do ghosts exist?" thread a sticky.... maybe open it up to have to off topic threads for the many paranormal shows out there. You have some good posters, Diane especially. Getting some of her views on the whole spirit vs ghost thing would be really interesting. The skeptics, for the most part, seem harmless and when no body wants to play they tend to go away fairly quickly which shows good discipline on the regular poster's part. Trust me, I've seem some flame wars that make the worst Dimekrat/Ablishnist arguments seem like child's play. Quality always beats quantity.

That might be because we don't allow flaming around here. If it happens, it gets taken care of. Mike runs a tight site.

mphstteach......I would love to see more good stories like Kealbo's, and I wish you the best, but I have no earthly (or unearthly) idea. I will say sometimes this stuff comes in bunches, so perhaps your big day is yet to come! Good luck.

That story just posted about Val Giles' hearing his brother's voice the day he was killed.....in another forum.....would have been great here. I think stuff like that is fascinating. Maybe put out a call for stories of that type?

Thank you for the ideas. I have been doing a little research in my off time and have a few stories to post maybe this weekend.

Stratford Hall has a long reputation for being spooky. (Lee didn't find it so - after all, the spooks were kin!) It has to do with the design of the main hall staircase. It seems an alarming number of Lee children fell to their deaths from it! :cold:
