He was never wounded but did have numerous horses shot out from under him​
His Clothing was riddled with bullet holes from his days of war​
He rose to the rank of Major in the Confederate Army​
1865: Accompanied Longstreet after the Surrender at Appomattox​

Interestingly, Goree signed his last pay receipt with the rank of 1st Lt! I've never been able to find a promotion to CPT or MAJ...
 
His grandson, John W. Thomason wrote a biography on Stuart and at the beginning mentions all the old veterans would come to his grandfather's house to talk about the war and gush over Stuart. Thomason was a Marine officer and noted artist.
