This recipe is from "Old Time Recipes To Enjoy", "The Kentucky Explorer", May 2017. It makes an excellent relish.

Take firm, large free stone peaches, halve them and place them cut down in a skillet of boiling lard or butter. When the edges are nicely browned, turn them up and fill the cups with white sugar and cook until thoroughly done.

That appears to be same recipe as one printed in Old Time Recipes to Enjoy. It appears Fried Peaches were enjoyed in several area.
As we are on the subject of peaches they were brought to Georgia in 1571 by the Franciscan Monks.they did not become into their own until 1720-1730 as they were cultivated by the Cherokee Indians of that era as a major food source.just another item we can thank the native Americans for.
