Ed Bearss and you

After reading several folks talk about getting Ed Bearss autograph, I decided to start this thread.What is your favorite photo of you and Ed Bearss? I have several of he and I, but here is my favorite from a tour at Vicksburg in 2015 in front of the USS Cairo.

I sadly never got to meet him. I was born in the 2000s, so I would've especially loved to have met an authentic war hero. He will be missed.

I never officially met Mr. Bearss, but I did unexpectedly have an encounter with him at
the Brice's Crossroads battlefield back in the mid 2000's.

The man was authentic.

He was just like what we had seen of him on television.

Here's a pic of Ed and me at a Vicksburg seminar in 1987. He conducted all the tours. I got to spend allot of time with him that week and he showed a tremendous interest in the 1st Missouri Brigade at Vicksburg. He was a great help at Grand Gulf in showing me all the MO Brigade locations. Following the seminar we corresponded for several years about various topics concerning the MO brigade in the Vicksburg campaign and his work withe the USS Cairo. His wife was also a great help with CS vessels sunk in the Yazoo. Two extra ordinary people that are sorely missed. Ed also introduced me to Terry Winschel at Vicksburg who became a great resource for information from the Vicksburg file.

Don't have any pics, but I do have his autograph in his book "Hard Luck Ironclad" (hope I remembered the title correctly, as it has been several decades).

But more than his autograph, at the 2000 Civil War Institute, at Gettysburg College, I was on his tour to Harpers Ferry and Antietam. Superb!
