Longstreet recommended Bragg's command be given to either Lee or Johnston Davis would have none of it.

I ment to say either Lee or Beureguard. Davis would rather do nothing. Lee didn't want it and Davis disliked Beureguard. So he left Bragg in charge. Bragg quickly took revenge on all the officers involved in the mutiny.

Well some of his troops did. Somehow ggrandfather found out that is was it was headed. Wonder what happened to it? I'm not even sure what they took....the report just says furniture. Wonder if any of his descendants have them?

Perhaps if Davis had spent a bit more time thinking about what was good for the war effort, and less about being there for his buddies..... SMH

I need to read more about Davis he seems to have had some bizarre ideas.
