CWT Fall Muster 2025?

Still need a war room and everything that folks have stated above. I ain't ever been to V'burg but have read some about it. Swamps and bayous…lovely

I was thinking for all.. affordable, fun, meet and greet, if you want to do CW stuff this year is fine. I was also thinking gambling, and there is a place in MO that is decent for this

There will be an official Muster proposal and itinerary posted later this evening for Fredericksburg/Chancellorsville the weekend of Thursday night October 9- Sunday October 12 (Columbus Day long weekend for many of us). This is the 10th anniversary of CWT Musters and the location and activities have been under consideration for some time because of the landmark occasion. Others are free to make their own concrete proposals and, if so, there will be a vote, bearing in mind that final approval of any official Muster rests with the owners of CWT.

Standby.

For a fast glance overview. If I could make it (anything could happen between now & Fall), I'd prefer it be at least firing distance from the war, one way or another, as I've never been anywhere war-related, but for a Harper's Ferry school field trip.
I want to feel the war & these soldiers coursing through my blood after these years studying the thing. But I'd also be the party pooper, as I don't gamble, drink much at all, & eat just plants. Happy to bail anyone out though, at 4am.
I would kill to stand in The Wilderness.

there are many major sites when it was your relative lost a arm, leg or life.... It was major to them.
No, I agree with that, it's just that there's not much to plan a major event around. For example, for most battles in the Trans-Mississippi, especially in Arkansas and Missouri, there just isn't enough around.
The thing is we can agree to meet and have a blast this year and it does not have to involve cannonballs. Since 2025 is a bit unproductive as people are not jumping up with organizing... lets just gamble and party as a group? We can go out back and watch the reenactment of something but what the heck. How many members are there here on this site? This will be huge. CWT casino and whatever. It will be huge
Ay ay ay...I would have to miss that, then, being three years beneath the legal limit of all that...

You're allowed to be in bars in VA. as a minor if they have on the premises an "ABC licensed restaurant." You just can't drink alcohol within anyone's sight. Each bar can make its own rules, so yes to minors, but other bars that's a no to walking in.

Still, it's only shoving off the fact that there aren't many (major) sites left...
While a tour of the drive on Atlanta, wont have the prestige and glamour or monuments like Gettysburg or Sharpsburg, they are significant none-the-less. Having done two commercial tours of this theater with Jim Ogden and Ed Bearrs there is more than you might expect. Most of the sites wiill be similar to what we saw during the 2023 Winchester muster and last years muster out at Spainish Fort and Fort Blaklely. It is still the honor to walk those hallowed grounds wherever they are. I am still holding out we can do Fburg this year, and then followup with @MasonDixon next year in Atlanta and area and then maybe Charleston in 2027.

I can support this effort … tight but doable and will throw in one van. Y'all can decide who I could pickup . Those who can wait exit on Monday will find it easier with dedicated train service to DC and Reagan. Amtrak stops in Fred last time I looked at 4:40 am. every day. Too die hard for me.

I'll check to make sure VRE is running on Thursday and Monday and we could do an airport drop off for folks in Richmond Airport.

No gambling down here and especially at lights. Bring your patience if you drive but parking is free. We just don't have the infrastructure for the folks. I can definitely Sherpa the effort to what the majority wants.

I might even dry run my lecture, demo
And game for Cedar Creek for y'all if you don't mind.

I am a big one for ten year anniversary and it would truly be an honor to facilitate this year in Fredericksburg/Spotsy.

YHS,
Doc Ralph

To me it sounds like a few members only wish to meet each other "in person" and get drunk.
Gosh, I would enjoy such myself ... but that's not the reason for a muster.

A Civil War site , not a "meet & greet" must be the primary focus.

Just my two cents.
I haven't seen the schedule gjpratt mentioned but I have a feeling it will not disappoint.

Of course Sir … more like I was saying rapport building…I don't mind the drinking but the gambling can lead to wrack and ruin. I think it was called a Convention and indeed Sir after hours at a Convention can become raucous and jovial with the free flow of spirits. I would be surprised if the Contintental
Convention was completely off the wagon.

I hate to be posting this so late in the thread, but our muster team was not about to post anything until we knew we had our "stuff" together and a viable proposal to present.

A group of us realized during the 2023 muster that the 2025 CWT Muster would be the 10th anniversary of the CWT Musters, and we decided then that we wanted to make sure it was a worthy of being the big "one-oh." Our plan all along was to propose a Fredericksburg - Chancellorsville Muster to the membership for 2025. Unfortunately, our team members have all had a lot of other things going on over the past year and ½, and time will get away from you when you aren't looking. Our team is aware that others have now suggested similar (and different) muster ideas, but our team is set, our planning is underway, and we are ready to roll.

If others have their teams together and proposals ready, they are welcome to post their proposals in the new link and I am sure the moderators will set up a vote.

If no one else puts forward a proposal, our team is prepared to move forward with the preparations (with the CWT owners' approval, of course).

Please do not fill up the Proposal thread with comments. This thread is only for proposals so the moderators can determine if a vote is needed, and for the CWT owners to also moderate. Thanks!
