CWT Fall Muster 2025?

Traditionally last few years it's been fall......but don't think that has to be set in stone.

Edit it generally weighted towards members being older, so 100 degree heat in summer might not be popular...........

Except mabye Florida where could have alternative beach bar days

If it's before Cedar Creek I would be all in for Fred. We will be at B'ville, New Market, G'burg (ugh) and CC.

It's nothing like a reenactment. It's a group history tour.

So staff volunteers need to be able make hotel arrangements, plan itineraries of sites and time to travel between them, make meal arrangements that can either accommodate the group, or be catered to sites.......as well in planning itineraries be aware of parking as it's ussually carpooled members, so likely 6-8 vehicles or more depending on size. Often arrange speakers like nps rangers/local authors for specific period.....

Never done it personally, but realize alot goes into sucessful ones.

Good time of year in Spotsy. Not too hot and not too cold. Leaves change and good for our artillery guys to look at topography. Almost too much to do unless it's a longer muster …

I'd love it if the group met in Richmond but I cannot help organize I just don't have the time.

I've been to Richmond once, I would love to go back. I do a trip to Mtn City TN in the fall so it could work with that. I would be willing to help if there was something I could do without "boots on the ground." I think several people helped with the Mobile Muster without being there prior to that weekend.
I've also never been to Perryville. I have been to Fredericksburg and would like to go back. The thought was floated a few years back that it could not be done in a weekend though.
I'm glad to see a Muster being discussed. I'm going to Disney with my daughter's family in the spring, so some Civil War travels in the fall would be welcome.

Yeah…I know as I have seen past ones on this forum.

I do have time as I am twice retired and just studying up on amputations and stomach operations. No biggie.

If it was decided on Fred I would be willing to get it running as long as it didn't clash directly with CC. Maybe some other folks pitch in.

Further, I do know the lay of the land with 30 plus years in Spotsy.

If it was only a weekend it would have to be like a whirlwind-almost drive by-of the four fields of glory. Maybe an evening of lectures by the indoor pool and hot tubs.

I would be willing to give one of my hot tub lectures on 19th Century Naval Medicine OR we could have my game lecture "What can kill you in camp A -Z " in the bar.

If there was extra time in days … Stafford County and George Washington boyhood home at Ferry Farm, Fredburg (colonial and CW sites - Rising Sun Tavern, Mary Washington home, Hugh Mercer apothecary) & of course a walk along the Sunken Road/stone wall, lunch at Slaughter Pen Farm. And Meade's Pyramid.
The problem would be what to cut out and not lack of things to do.

As for all that order of battle and all that scholarly stuff I will not be much help as I am a doer. Perhaps some of our esteemed members would step up and deliver that side of it. Tho i would make a stab at Spotsy Artillery.

For those that haven't been to one, they start sometime on Friday and run through noonish Sunday. Not everyone that attends is able to come in days earlier or stay days later. Those that can obviously get to visit more places but the whole point of these Musters is for members to get together in person for a few days as a group and do what we love to do. In earlier Musters I was blessed to be able to take 3-4 days off work and tack them to the weekend. The past couple years I have not had that luxury. I have rolled in on Thursday night and rolled out on Sunday but I have been grateful for those 2 full days with the CivilWarTalk folks.

Everyone who has served as QM has had a staff. We don't expect nor let one person do it all.

Wherever it is, it needs to be close to a good international or regional airport.

DC Metro has stops at both Dulles and Reagan Washington National. I think some folks flew into Dulles for the Shenandoah 2023 Muster.

Richmond International Airport is right by I-295 (Richmond/Petersburg Bypass). It's built on top of part of the Seven Pines battlefield, IIRC.
