Was this the mumified Custer P.T. Barnum had in his museum later to lend to Buffalo Bill to take on his Wild West tour? Only kidding.....Truly a terrible resemblance!
His Custer reminds me a great deal of one I saw in a museum exhibition called Custer's Last in the 1960's at the Amon Carter Museum of Western Art in Ft. Worth and which had been used as the frontispiece of the book The Custer Myth by W. A. Graham. In that one, Custer is dressed identically, but is falling with his mortal wound, turning as he goes down.
