Cracklin' Bread

Soak cracklin's in 1 cup of warm water and let get soft (about 5 minutes). Mash them in water to get them into smaller pieces. Add 1 cup cornmeal and 1 teaspoon salt ( if sticky add more cornbread. Put in greased pie pan and cook at 350 degree until nice and brown.

A treat for many a Confederate soldier.

Cracklins or cracklings are pieces of pork fat and skin that have been deep fried so that they turn crispy and golden. Many eat cracklins as a snack food, other use them in breads, like cornbread.
