Beer bread is a quick bread. It been around for centuries. Germans brought it to America.

A recreated recipe:

3 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 can of beer
1/2 melted butter

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients together and mix in beer. Pour into greased loaf pan. Pour melted butter over mixture. Bake for 1 hour.

I imagine a good porter or stout would be very nice, although Germans favored lagers.

Growing up in a small farm community founded primarily by Prussian immigrants, beer bread was a staple. It goes well with soups/stews, salads and meats.
