The first two posts are just flat amazing to me. First, I have never seen anything like this artillery sword. It's yet another example of the things I learn here. Secondly, I'm not sure if E just E's post is a Roman gladius or something older. But, I can see that the similarities are pretty amazing. They are astonishing similarities to me. This is great stuff!

Nah. This is the gladius' grandaddy: Spartan Xiphos. Short Swords were always secondary weapons. The Spartans' primary weapons were spears. The Civil War Gunners' primary weapons, were well, you know what

I had a hunch it was older...just because I was seeing an image of it on a piece of pottery that looked a lot older than Roman. Thanks for the explanation!
