This is a Williams Gun replica. I met a chap on-line who lived in Middle Tennessee who made his own Williams Gun but he changed the specifications. He made a 2-lb gun and he mounted it so it would look larger and be more impressive to the Audience.

The guys who were at the CWT Tour of Vicksburg saw my presentation on the Williams Gun. I emphasized how the replicas were mounted on the carriage using cheek pieces. But the replica in this photo is correct in that it is mounted on the swivel mount support. To impress the crowds, he mounted it on a larger carriage and added the taller sights----very tall.
I can't say for sure that this is the same chap I talked to. I asked him how many rounds could he fire in 1 Minute. He said he could fire about 7 rounds before he had to stop as the barrel got too hot to safely load another round of blackpowder packed in aluminum foil into the breech.

Great Photos

Some of these pics should be in the "Caption This". Note the youngster with the flaming red "Larry Fine" hair. And the one with the kid in uniform that looks three to five sizes too big ? "Uh dad, can I have some suspenders, people are laughing at me......"
