Thank you for approving my request to join and hello everyone! A bayonet has recently come into my possession and was wondering if anyone had any input in reference to what exactly it may be. I believe it's a 1856 yataghan. The handle is made of wood and secured by a square nut on one side.

I cleaned it up a little carefully to see if there were any identifying marks. There is a clear "19" on the pommel. Also, on the blade near where it joins the handle, there appears to be an etching that resembles a "C". I am going to attempt to add pictures.

Please let me know any input you may have and thank you!

Looks to be an Enfield 2 band saber bayonet with replaced handle. Both English and German made Enfield saber bayonets had pressed leather handles which tended to disintegrate. Just an opinion @Lanyard Puller would know better. Nice condition!

And welcome from Maryland's Eastern Shore!

The single screw through the handle is the only one of those I've ever seen.
There is no mention of this exact type in British & Commonwealth Bayonets, by Skennerton & Richardson, or other references.
It has been heavily cleaned, but the marked numbers, blade, etc. are as they should be.
The replaced wooden handle kills it's authenticity.
IMHO.

Thanks for the input. Any idea what the etched letter/symbol could be on the blade near the cross section?
