There are several threads on Bannock Bread from Native Americans. I recently found this recipe for Irish Bannock Bread.

1 3/4 to 2 cups whole wheat or graham flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Sift dry ingredients together. Make well in mixture. Stir in buttermilk until dough is firm. Turn dough into floured board. Knead lightly 5 or 6 times. Shape dough into round loaf. Place on cookie sheet. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve toasted with marmalade or jam.
