Hi everyone,

did any of you attend the recent 160th anniversary event, at Fort Blakeley? Does anyone know how many have signed up already? I have already booked a flight and am really looking forward to being there.

Greetings from Germany!
André

Hello!

Sorry just seeing this. The guy to ask is Brian DesRochers. There reenactments are always fantastic. I am not a reenactor, but enjoy observing their authentic portrayls.
I saw they had the 160th anniversary of the siege of Fort Blakely for 3 days. 4,5, and 6th. No info except the Living History and reenactments on the 5th. Do you know if they did anything those other two days? Maybe participants could arrive early and stay late?
Just curious of you know anything. I don't know Brian DesRochers.
Thanks.
Cheers!

I've been in the past, was supposed to go this year but something came up. Usually Saturday is for the public. The action starts for the reenactors Friday afternoon. A good portion of the event is a campaigner style event with no spectators. It a great event, bummed out I couldn't make it this year.

Hey thanks for spelling it our for me. I knew I could count on you. I saw those guys on Pinterest videos doing their thang. I am impressed by the earthworks. I want to participate in the future. Like a year in the future. HA! I don't know if my kits and uniforms will pass inspection so I have a year to get things in order. Alabama Depot uniforms I guess. I can figure it our looking at the photos on line. Health concerns have me laid out flat right now so I am glad it was brought up to remind me.
Just for men gell and some serious weight loss and I might even pass for a military serving aged person....from a distance!
I was perusing the miniature and war game forum recently and I'm shocked that I found no Fort Blakely dioramas. Great project for someone.
Thanks again and Cheers!

It's held every other year so you have 2 years to get ready. While I usually go Confederate I went Federal down there, can't bring myself to buy another jacket I'll only possibly use once every couple years. If you look back through the Reenactors Forum there's been some good threads including photos of past events there.

Perfect. I think I'll need 2 years. Im hoping to at least attend if not participate in the 150th Greasy Grass fight. I have to purchase some 1870s Cavalry items. I wanted them anyway and I have a good amount of things already to add to. I have the funds so I don't mind blowing money on events that I have never been able to attend before. Any of them back east. Just never had the money or the time. This stuff gives me something to look forward to and even if my health fails me and I don't make it out there at least I have purpose and hope.
Cheers again!
