For anyone out and about in West Texas, there's a Confederate soldier interred in a tiny cemetary at Fort Lancaster, near Sheffield:
Private J.H. Norris - A Private in the Confederate Army, Company F, 2nd Regiment, Texas Mounted Rifles, commanded by Lt. Col. Baylor. Pvt. Norris died of pneumonia at Fort Lancaster in 1861.
The grave is modest in the extreme and has a bit of a history regarding its headstone, but is still there. The remains of Lancaster itself are modest as well but it was an important post and the site of a large battle with Indians immediately post-War. Watch for rattlesnakes should you choose to visit!
Best,
phil
