The 20th gets the glory and renown, refusing its flank under extreme pressure but it wasn't the only regiment from that State to do so at much the same time. Which regiment that was organised at Camp King, Cape Elizabeth and that also claimed to have helped repulse the charge that was to be named after Lasalle Corbell's soon to be husband was it? As a clue it has two memorials. Alternatively add ten to the number of the 'forgotten' Pine Tree regiment (Ten Infantry Regiments formed from its native sons are immortalised in stone there but only nine get frequent visitors).

Edit - Welcome to the trivia game, Hussar Yeomanry. As far as I can determine, this is the first time you have submitted either a question or an answer to one.

Hope you'll come back as a player, question submitter, or both.

The 17th Maine Infantry Regiment, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Benjamin Merrill, was organized at Camp King in Cape Elizabeth, ME; helped hold back a charge named Pickett's Charge or Pickett-Pettigrew Assault, led by CSA General George Edward Pickett, and has two monuments at Gettysburg. His wife was Lasalle Corbell Pickett.

17th Maine Volunteers
Clue: There are two monuments to the 17th Maine Volunteers on the Gettysburg battlefield.

Clue: Claimed to have helped repulse the charge that was to be named after Lasalle Corbell, soon to be husband. (George Pickett).
On July 3, at the time of the enemy’s assault, it reinforced the centre and supported artillery.

Clue: 17th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment was mustered in at Cape Elizabeth, Maine

Clue: Add ten to the number of the 'forgotten' Pine Tree regiment(Ten Infantry Regiments formed from its native sons are immortalised in stone there but only nine get frequent visitors).

The monument to the 7th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment is southeast of Gettysburg on Neill Avenue, a difficult to reach area surrounded by private property.

Which regiment that was organised at Camp King, Cape Elizabeth and that also claimed to have helped repulse the charge that was to be named after Lasalle Corbell's soon to be husband was it? As a clue it has two memorials. - Based on this question and clue, I am going with the 17th Maine - source 1 source 2

This clue was a little confusing but seemed to fit working backwards - source

Thank you for the question - lot more Maine participation at Gettysburg than I realized

I believe it is the 17th Maine. They were organized at Camp King, and I see conflicting reports on whether or not they were part of defending against Pickett's Charge. They definitely saw heavy action in the wheatfield on the 2nd, and there are 2 monuments to them on the battlefield.

This source claims they were not at Pickett's Charge:

These sources say they were at Pickett's Charge:

That should be the 17th Maine Infantry Regiment

"There are two monuments to the 17th Maine Volunteers on the Gettysburg battlefield."

The "forgotten" Maine Regiment and its monument that is difficult to reach is the 7th Maine:
"The monument to the 7th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment is southeast of Gettysburg on Neill Avenue, a difficult to reach area surrounded by private property."

The charge was Pickett's Charge. Pickett was to be married with Lasalle Picket.
The regiment in question, was the 17th Maine. As a II Corps unit, there where stationed in the Wheatfield area, but sendt to reinforce the center and support artillery during Pickett's charge.

(Two other Maine regiments also helped repulse Pickett's Charge in the main line, which also have two monuments each, the 16th and 17th, but noen of them was organized at Camp King)

Of the ten Maine regiments at Gettysburg, the forgotten regiment is the 7th Maine. It's monument is located surround by private property and rarely visited. 7 pluss is 10, is 17th Maine
