Agreed, @War Horse is probably busy with September to Remember at Gburg. I will help also with this as best I can.

I've already called the hotel that Eric W recommended. They've got a computer glitch with reservations that far out but gave me the name and contact info for the group sales person. Bottom line, they need at least ten rooms blocked to offer a $20 discount per room night. We ought to be able to come up with ten interested souls.

When the dust settles on Gburg this can be revisited. Dates will need to be set and we're off to the races!

Gettysburg is over and now is the time to start looking towards the South! After talking with a few people during the Gettysburg Retreat, it has been mentioned that we would be smart to do this in the latter part of Oct. I for one would agree that the cooler it can be the better for most. What say ye all?

Mid to late October would be good for me probably. While the troops were in Gburg,a few of us who were held in reserve began a private conversation about the CWT 2018 tour. The ball is already rolling. September is good for me too.

September /October is too late for us. We will be in the US in July probably, we have to go during Lower Saxony's summer vacation time. So instead of a September to Remember we will hopefully have a July to Jubilee, as we hope to meet some people privately.

The date is the most important thing. Once it's set there's no going back. Float it to our guides and pick one that works for them before moving another step forward.

2. We need to establish a local venue that can accomadate a large group with private seating. I would suggest one group meal.

3. We need to determine a point of meet and greet. A local watering hole will work well. If the hotel has one, excellent. If not, all we need is some place where the locals hang out. One that serves food would be nice.

4. Coordinate all intinerary events around our experts schedules. They are accomadating us, we need to accomadate them.

5. The all important date. No date can be established until all of the above has been figured out. Once we have these things figured out. We can set a date.

It's almost like working backwards. Once a common date is established, it's game on.

Our itinerary can be prepared and we can then plan properly.

I've already spoken with @bdtex about this privately. I'll do all I can to help organize the event. I believe Bobby will be our lead man in this event. We have plenty of time and need to establish our team.

It will go off without a hitch.

I know a few folks who have been tour coordinators that I can ask. It would be June next year before I could possibly do any advance scouting. I live in the Houston area and I have a trip to south Georgia scheduled in late June next year. Eric has suggested that the Hampton Inn in Ringgold would meet our lodging and meeting needs.

The anniversary of the battle is a Tuesday 9/18-Thursday 9/20 next year. If we schedule it for the weekend before or after that we will be competing with the anniversary for lodging and guide services and we'd have to schedule those quickly.

As with the Gettysburg tours,we need to determine if any CWT members can guide parts of the tour and are willing to do so.
