I've heard all the demand for a CWT reunion at the Chickamauga Battlefield. Let's plan for 2018. This will require a tremendous amount of help. I am not familiar with area at all. I will need a boots on the ground team to help me with the arrangements. I will consult and organize however I can't do it alone. If you are interested in putting a Chickamauga tour together and can help with the planning, Please PM me and we will get started. I have a great interest in this battle as you might imagine. The old Bull of the Woods finest hour. Let's get to work!

I would be interested to join in on this. I should be retired by then.

I took an NPS hiking tour of Battle of Lookout Mtn and enjoyed discovering the trails & the Confederate positions on the western slope. Some may want to add that as a stop.

Not so much at the Chickamauga Battlefield. We also went to Lookout Mountain, Wauhatchie and Tunnel Hill and there was some marching at those places.

Has anyone talked to the gentleman about the possibility of doing this next year?

Just a quick note....I drove through the battlefield this weekend on my way to visit family in Georgia. I was pleased to note some significant landscape restoration along Lafayette Road. They are removing underbrush to restore the areas to the open woodland that was present at the time of the battle. Should make the tours even better with improved sight lines.

I definitely recommend a side trip to visit the site of Pat Cleburne's victory at Ringgold, Ga.; it's not very far and can be seen in an hour or so. About three years ago I stayed in Chattanooga at two different places, the Chattanooga Choo-Choo which is cute but getting run down and not especially recommended; and the steamboat Delta Queen which is no longer there, so no longer an option. The Choo-Choo as its name implies is train-themed and located at the old terminal in downtown. Accommodations are actually IN vintage train cars: not Pullmans, but regular cars that have been furnished inside with conventional motel-type furniture; each car has been divided into two "rooms." A beautiful old stone motel now operated as a B&B where I spent my honeymoon in 1968 is called Chanticleer and is atop Lookout Mountain; unfortunately, it's kind of small and is located just outside tourist trap Rock City so is probably a poor choice too.

Dave is a good friend, and I will be happy to discuss with him.

The problem is that he will expect to be paid for his services, and unless we're willing to pay someone, it will be difficult to get him.

I am willing to do a September 18 tour. My book will be out by then.

I suggest the Hampton Inn. It's about five miles from the battlefield, on the other side of I-75, but it's where I've stayed the last two times at Chickamauga. It has the facilities.
