All types of breads and rolls are my favorites. This is a recipe for a delicious yeast roll. This is one my Granny made.

2 packages dry yeast
1/4 cup lukewarm water
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup melted shortening
1 1/4 cups milk, scalded
3 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Combine sugar, salt, shortening and milk in large bowl; stir until sugar is dissolved. Cool to lukewarm; add dissolved yeast and mix well. Add half of the flour and beat well. Gradually beat in remaining flour. Cover. Let rise in warm place 15 to 20 minutes. Str. Fill greased muffin pans about 3/4 full, using spoon dipped in cold water. Cover; allow to rise 15 to 20 minutes. Bake in oven at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 12 to 18 rolls.

Nothing beats a hot yeast roll. Thanks for this recipe Donna!

Although I don't bake anything with yeast, I do love these rolls! Great for any dinner, Thanksgiving or no. I obtain them in bulk, freeze them and parcel them out during the year.
