Warner's regiment was the 11th Vermont, also known as the 1st Vermont Heavy Artillery. They remained in D.C. until they reinforced Lewis Grant's Vermont Brigade around Spotsylvania; after the horrendous casualties they had suffered thus far in the Overland Campaign, Grant's entire brigade numbered less than the 11th Vermont (which numbered around 1500 men, though I'd need to double check my sources on that).
