Civil War Career:
Served in the Confederate Navy, spending most of his time quarantined due to the Yellow Fever break out
Served in the First Virginia Artillery Battalion just before Appomattox
Occupation after War:
Mining Engineer in Germany just before Franco – Prussian War
Served in the Prussian Army during the Franco – Prussian War
1871: Served with Gallantry during Occupation of France
1873: Returned to the United States Settling in Utah
Attempted to find work as Mining Engineer in Salt Lake City
1879 – 1883: Surveyor for United States Interior Department
Died: September 1, 1883
Place of Death: New Mexico
Cause of Death: Drank Contaminated Water
Age at time of Death: 35 years old
Burial Place: South End Cemetery, East Hampton, New York
